Moab

Well, we certainly timed that well!  The first day we were in Moab it rained on and off all day.  Several times the downpours were torrential. We went out on our balcony and just watched it come down.   Then we went down to the "creek" which had been transformed into a raging red river running several feet higher than earlier in the day. So glad we weren't on the river.  Flash flooding would have been a real possibility.  We were also pretty happy that we were in a hotel because the campground was probably flooded.  Amy and Brent got several beautiful watercolours done from pictures taken on the river. They're both pretty darned talented!  I had planned to bike one day and hike the other but the weather didn't cooperate. Instead, I met a biking friend for a nice long visit and then wandered Main Street and stimulated the local economy. I bought my bullet-proof tent pegs so felt much better about my tent withstanding wind gusts on the next trip.

Wednesday turned out to be a much better weather day so Amy, Patty, Bob (the dog) and I went for a hike up Grandstaff Canyon.  With all the recent rain it was a pretty wet hike, but beautiful. It's a very easy outing - pretty flat and not too long. And - a lovely arch at the end. Morning Glory Arch/Natural Bridge is 243 feet long.

In the afternoon we did some grocery shopping and then out for a nice Thai dinner. Sheila was the primary organizer for this second trip, so we were just picking up a few things that she hadn't gotten around to getting. Amy was to be our chief navigator for part 2 so she did some research on that.  Sheila, Abby and Cole arrived around 8:30.  Lots of packing and reorganizing ensued before heading off to dreamland - all 6 of us (and much of our gear & food) in the one hotel room.

Ride Idaho

Well, after getting off the river and back to Pleasant Grove with Sheila and her family, it was time to start thinking about riding a bike a...
